SOUL RASH
Love Coma
(CD)
Thanks to John Thompson (of True Tunes) LOVE COMA gets a second chance and a distribution deal.  They redo the albums’ artwork (both the original and new covers by Paul Soupiset) and begin to cause controversy in the marketplace.   (side note:  “That was not our intention,  I just am a bit more visual than most of these conservative bands… I wanted the cover to be very descriptive of the band’s name,” said Taylor.)

SLIGHTLY USED
(recorded live to DAT.  Released on cassette only.)
Chris Taylor
Recorded much like the Lo- Fi Project where friends were brought in to play songs they never heard before.  The music is very acoustic and laid back.  Tracks feature everyone from Matt Slocum on guitar, Paul Soupiset singing and playing guitar, Shane Kyle on tape recorder, Phil Lovelady on acoustic guitar, Bryan Slagle on acoustic guitar, Patrick Steele on percussion, Chris Dodds on drums and more.  It was here that ‘Wonderful Thing’, ‘jigsawman’, and ‘swing your dress’ was born. Once again engineered by Donnie Meals and produced by Chris Taylor.

1995

The band signs to R.E.X. Music and travels  to Sacramento, CA. to work with producer Mike Roe of the 77’s.  Chris Mattingly replaces Slocum on guitar, Duncan on bass, Dodds on drums. Roe plays guitar on ‘she was’ and ‘spinning through the night’ which was a hidden track (77- get it?) and guested English writer and poet Steve Scott on‘selfless’ and 77’s bass player Mark Harmon on ‘Wednesday’.

1996
THE FLU SESSION!
(recorded to DAT, dubbed to cassette)
File under Love Coma.
Called the FLU SESSION because Taylor was extremely sick but chose to record anyway (since it was for free).  Matt Slocum had set up a makeshift recording studio in New Braunfels an invited us to come and record some tunes.  The band was Taylor, Dodds on drums, Matt Odom played bass and Chris Mattingly played lead guitar.  The track list includes ‘Jesus is alive’, ‘all along the watchtower’, ‘laughing in the face of love’ and ‘the price of failure’.

REGIONAL PROJECTS TAYLOR HAS PRODUCED

DANDELION MYTH/FISH OUT, OUT OF WATER:
This was Taylors’ two and a half dizzying days of fun and chaos with the band. Levi White, Tyce and Beau kicked through some of their new and old tunes with firey passion. "It was definitely a demo project and I know the band struggled with each other at times, but it’s got some real interesting stuff on there! It was a good step forward, I just wish we could have had more time to make heads or tails of it." Taylor said.

1994-1995
PAUL SOUPISET/ACOUSTIC COFFEE:

Another creative project that Taylor had his hand in. Again, recorded at Edit Point Studios with Donnie Meals and featured various members of Love Coma, including Matt Slocum on guitar.
"Paul writes like no one else I know. Very witty and intellectual… yet poetic and intimate. He’s very underrated since he does the music thing ‘on the side’ and people don’t perceive him as a legit musician. But he’s very ligit, a complete visual and commercial artist. He’s the real thing!" Chris
also sang, played guitar and even played percussion on a track.

1998
DÓXA

An interesting project by Dan Strader and Demetrios Leiloglou slanted towards a ‘worship-feel’ with acoustic guitars, harmony vocals and percussive drum sounds. Complete with the Youth Choir at San Antonio’s Wayside Church. Taylor added his own personal touches on songs like ‘Maker of the Stars’ and ‘Nothing but the Blood’. Singer/songwriter Eddie Morales plays lead guitar on ‘Maker…’ as well.

1999
DAN DUET/TOUCH THE FLAME:

Dan Duet is another singer/songwriter heavily involved with the church and wanted to make a record that reflected his passions for God and his personal relationships. After Taylor produced an earlier demo, they decided to take it up a notch with ‘Touch the Flame’.
Recorded over at Tony Frackowiak’s home studio, the record has some sparkling moments in the songs ‘Come to the Cross’ and ‘A Bridge to Heaven’. Taylor guests on several tracks, ‘Lost Without Your Love", harmonica on ‘Fly Away Fly’ and Taylor and Eddie Morales play guitars on ‘…And Time Stood Still’, a brooding track featuring dj Pat Rodgers.

2000
ROBERT DUPUY/LET THE RIVER FLOW:

Taylor enlisted Shane and Justin, Sarah and Ruben, Paul Soupiset and percussionist Paul Cookson to help Robert create his first demo. Monica Gonzalez sings bg vocals on the title track.

REGIONALPROJECTS TAYLOR HAS PLAYED ON:

2000
LADY JANE GREY

Although not officially credited with production,
Taylor’s influence was strong in the beginning months of this project. Sarah and Dave even chose to record a song Taylor ‘gave’ to them called ‘Better Days Ahead’, in which Dave wrote the music to Chris’ lyric. Taylor also played tremolo electric gutiar on ‘Fire’. Ruben V. lends a swampy-slide guitar on ‘everwater’ and Justin and Shane make up the bulk of the rhythm section. The music is all their own, with deep, poetic lyrics and vibey chords to match (not to mention Sarah’s lovely cello).
Check out ladyjanegreaymusic.com

2000
MISTY JONES/ALL I WANT IS YOU

Taylor played harmonica on ‘Wish You Were Here’- no, not the Pink Floyd song. Justin Graves and Shane Kyle are the albums’ rhythm section along with guest appearances by all sorts of folks
like Greg Berry on Rhodes piano. Taylor was also summoned to paint the artwork for the cd’s cover. Check out http://mistyjonesmusic.com

2000
PAUL SOUPISET/OVER THE RHINE TRIBUTE

Paul recorded Over the Rhine’s ‘All I Need is Everything’ in November 2000 for possible inclusion on an OTR tribute album to be released later this year. Taylor played djembe and sang background vocals along with Sarah Hoover, while Paul played guitar and sang. Jeff DeVerter was enlisted to play guitar, percussion and help with production and the engineering process.
